Velez is famous for the “bocadillo Veleño”, a typical sweet made from guayaba and sugar.
In the first week of August it is also home to the “festival de la guabina y el tiple” celebrated in honour of the “Virgen de las nieves”. During this festival it is possible to see typical dances such as: “el tobellino”, “la guabina” y “los pasillos”. Most of the people wears typical dresses, and they also have a flower parade during the festival.
Velez has an average temperature of 18 C.
